Yesterday afternoon, our CCE Comets gathered in the cafeteria for a high-energy whole-school assembly with professional jump ropers Nick and Kaylee Woodard! During the 30-minute show, the Woodwards amazed students with incredible jump rope tricks while delivering a powerful motivational talk about perseverance, practice, and aiming high. Thank you, Nick & Kaylee, for bringing so much energy and positive momentum to Canyon Creek Elementary! ☄️✨

Reading Buddies in Action! 📚
Our 3rd-grade Comets teamed up with Kindergarten buddies this week for a special shared storytime! Third graders got to practice their expressive reading and leadership skills, while our youngest learners enjoyed listening to stories and connecting with older peers. It was a fantastic activity filled with smiles, mentorship, and a shared love for reading!

Making Music with Boomwhackers! 🎶
Our 1st-grade Comets had a blast in music class this week! Students got hands-on with colorful Boomwhackers, learning simple rhythms and tapping along to the beat. It was a fun, high-energy lesson filled with bright sounds and big smiles. Way to go, 1st grade!

🎨 History & Art in Action: 4th Grade Explores Native Texas Cultures!
Last week our 4th Grade Comets dove deep into Texas history to learn about the rich cultures, customs, and traditions of Native Texas peoples. To bring their learning to life, students explored traditional symbols and painted their own story rocks. Be sure to ask your 4th grader about the meaning behind the unique symbols on their rock!

Engineering in Action: Cereal Spoon Innovation 🥣
Our 4th Grade Comets put their engineering skills to the test during the Create and Improve stages of the design process! Their mission? Design a custom cereal spoon that lets milk drain back into the bowl while keeping the cereal right where it belongs. Students tested a variety of spoon designs and hole sizes to discover which combination performed best. Way to innovate, Comets! ☄️✨

🖌️Kindergarteners got hands-on with lines! Our youngest artists practiced naming different line types—zigzag, wavy, straight, and loopy—before painting them with bold colors.
🌸2nd Graders dived into vivid folk art inspired by artist Heather Galler, painting bright, patterned flowers that pop off the canvas.
✏️5th Graders tackled a technique challenge with an introduction to charcoal drawing, learning how to manipulate value, shadow, and highlights to create realistic 3D water droplets.

Our Kindergarteners at Canyon Creek had a sweet and sour time turning learning into a hands-on experience! While following along with a live demonstration on how to make fresh lemonade, students explored new science and descriptive vocabulary words like observation, liquid, solid, dissolve, temperature, change, and predicition. Learning is always extra refreshing when you can see, hear, taste and talk about the results! 🍋🥤

The grant will help replace outdated animal nonfiction books with current print and digital resources, engaging visuals, accessible text, and materials that support diverse reading levels and languages.
From ocean animals to endangered species and student research, these new resources will inspire curiosity, strengthen literacy, and bring science to life for Canyon Creek students. 🌎🔬

Science has never tasted so good! 🍿 In science lab this week, our 2nd graders explored the 5 senses using fresh popcorn. Students practiced making scientific observations using sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. Way to go, young scientists! 🧪✨

One Badge for Students
To support a safe and secure learning environment, Round Rock ISD will be requiring all students in grades 6-12 to wear a district-issued student ID badge during the school year. Elementary students will have district-issued badges, which will be managed by their teachers.
These badges serve as both a visual identification and digital access tools for transportation, campus resources like meals, checking out materials from our libraries and select facilities for events.
